Pascack Valley Train Line
The Pascack Valley Line consists of the Hoboken section of the NJ Transit and has trains that run from Hoboken through Bergen County and Rockland County, and New York City.
Originally, the Pascack Valley Line was chartered from the Hackensack and New York Railroad in 1856. The Erie Railroad purchased the line in 1896. In 1960, a merger was conducted that created the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. Parts of the original rail system travels as far as Haverstraw in New York.
NJ Transit is now offering 126 new trains on the Pascack Valley Line, including 16 new weekday trains going to Hoboken and Secaucus and 7 additional outbound trains to Bergen County. A PDF file of the current train schedule is attached.
In addition to commuting to work, starting in 2009, the Pascack Valley Line will offer service to one of New Jersey’s top entertainment and sports attraction, the Meadowlands Sports Complex. A new Meadowland Sports Complex train station will be built. Service will be provided via a Wye Connection. The Wye Connection will be constructed in a manner that will also allow trains from the northern end of the Pascack Valley Line to access the new Meadowlands station.
